Pastor David and Sylvia Heidemann

Pastor Heidemann in the Pulpit

David F. Heidemann was called to the pastorate of Union Church in February 2005. A Milwaukee native, he earned the M.Div. from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in 1978. His first pastorate was in Door County, Wisconsin. Returning to the Milwaukee area he became involved in singles group and disability ministries and began work on a master's degree in rehabilitation counselor education.

Manning the Booth at Davis Junction Festival

After a brief residence in Wheaton, Illinois, Rev. Heidemann was called to Florida to work in programs for the mentally challenged. In the church he attended he met Sylvia, a praise singer and member of the choir. Sylvia comes from Pekin, Illinois and is a graduate of the University of Illinois. She works as an editor for professional and trade publications. David and Sylvia married in 2003, and were active in the planting of a new church in Florida.

Dog Evangelism

In Monroe Center the Heidemanns have led the congregation in expanded outreach to the surrounding community. Activities have included a booth in the "Festival in the Park" in nearby Davis Junction. Accompanied by Shadow, they have invented "dog evangelism," walking around Monroe Center distributing bottled water symbolic of the "living water" of Christ. Sylvia is a leader in the church's music program and Missions Committee and edits the newsletter. Additionally, she serves as Village Clerk of Monroe Center.
